Doctorate

This is the highest level degree and is earned after the completion of a major research effort which adds significantly
to the body of knowledge available to society.

The degree can take many years to finish.

There are medical doctors (M.D.) who help sick people, but there are other types of doctorates (Ph.D. or Ed.D) as well.

Some of your teachers may have earned the title ‘Doctor’ within their fields.
