WHAT YOU NEED TO RUN A WEBINAR
So you are interested in participating in one or more of the LearnDoEarn webinars. Great. But what do you need to do in order to run a webinar in your classroom?
As you may already know, webinars are web-assisted teleconferences conducted through a computer and telephone. You see the presentation on your computer and hear the presenter, and ask your questions, through the telephone, which is why the phone and computer need to be in the same room. You may have as many participants as you like in one room for the webinar. If you have just a few people, you may want to gather around one computer with Internet access and put your phone on "speaker." If you have several people, you may opt to project your computer onto a screen with an LCD projector and amplify your phone with a microphone or speakers.
Prior to the webinar you should follow the steps listed below to ensure that you will be able to view and hear everything properly. You may want to work with your school or district technology person to run the check.
Once you register for a webinar, detailed login information will be sent to your e-mail address. On the day of the webinar, you will need to go the URL specified and type in the login information provided to you. You will then need to call the telephone number provided (toll charges may apply).
- Go to the "Set Up WebEx Meeting Manager" page: https://impact.webex.com/mw0304l/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=impact.
- Click the Set Up link in the menu on the left and then click Meeting Manager.
- Click the "setup" button. You may be asked to run the Active X Control. This is necessary in order to properly view the webinar.
- For optimal presentation size, be sure to have your screen settings on 1024 x 768 pixels. To do this, right click on your desktop and select Properties. Click on the Settings tab and adjust the Screen Resolution arrow to 1024 x 768.
