The LearnDoEarn After School Kit was designed to be used in the after school setting or by business speakers or mentors that work with students. The kit contains materials that can help schools and after school programs engage the business community and maximize their time spent with your students. It includes six (6) speaker presentations and supporting activities that business volunteers or after school personnel can use to provide students with the information they need to be ready for college, work and life.

NOTE: All of the program materials in the LearnDoEarn After School Kit are provided electronically on an encrypted USB flash drive that can only be accessed using a PC computer.

The six presentations and supporting activities cover the following topics:

Academic Achievement – Completing rigorous courses and doing homework in high school is key to getting a good job in tomorrow’s high tech world. Importance of first impressions is explored.

More Academics – Students are given a roadmap of the rigorous courses to take in high school to ensure success in college,
work and life. Speaker tests students’ business I.Q.

Global Competition – Speaker explains the nature of benchmarking – competition for jobs goes beyond friends, peers, neighbors, statewide all the way to international. Students are directed to online math benchmarking tests and sample pre-employment tests.

Financial Literacy – Students learn the four rules that will help them build financial security. Students can download and fill out the LearnDoEarn Millionaire’s Spreadsheet, which allows them to calculate how much (little) money they need to save to have a million in the bank when they retire.

Personal and Workplace Ethics – The importance of a strong work ethic and personal ethics in the workplace are discussed.

Culture of the Workplace - Attitudes and behaviors employers expect are discussed. Students learn how their personal behaviors can impact their employability. Students set goals.
